Deb Oliver Bio
Dr. Deb Oliver has a passion for everything that involves organizations and management. She has a rich history of more than 35 years working in several different types of organizations. Her formal education includes a degree in Management (HR Emphasis) in 1994 from University of Northern Iowa, a Master degree in Organizational Behavior in 1996 from BYU in Utah. Deb taught for several years at UNI and Mount Mercy as a “hobby” along with working fulltime for 8 years at Rockwell Collins as a Lean Consultant. After Rockwell, she worked for the Iowa Quality Center for 3+ years and developed the Workplace Lean Program which focuses on Continuous Improvement in the office/service areas of organizations. Deb accepted a fulltime faculty position at Mount Mercy in 2007, earned her PhD in Organizations/Management in 2009 from Capella University and served as the Director of Mount Mercy University’s MBA Program (’08-’15). In 2012, she developed the Master of Strategic Leadership Program also at Mount Mercy University and also served as its Director. In 2016, she returned again to the Iowa Quality Center and recently became the Executive Director where she enjoys working alongside a variety of the Iowa’s organizations in their journey toward excellence.

EQ is Emotional Intelligence and the impact of a strong EQ is essential within your leaders AND employees. The good news is that EQ is a core competency that can be improved with the right mindset. Attend this session to discover the steps you can take to build EQ within your people!
Key Objectives
1. To understand why it is important that staff have emotional intelligence in their dealings with one another and customers.
2. To recognize the different levels of EQ within your workforce: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness and Relationship Management.
3. To realize that EQ can be improved and that it is necessary in every career stage of your employees.
